Judging by the title of this book, I've just fooled John Scalzi into thinking I'm not a writer... That is to say, I just finished writing a novelette while drinking a latte in a very nice café in Aarhus ;-)

Working title: Zuukas.

That's pretty funny. And while I know MANY writers who indeed take their laptops to a Starbucks so they look writerly (though get nothing done) I do know several who actually DO write better in such a venue. Not only write, but manage to write stuff that gets published.

I read one of Scalzi's essays from the book, and if I remember it correctly, his point was that writing solely in coffee shops won't make you a professional writer. I found that a very valid point (unless you drink a *lot* of coffee :-) )

What's really bad is that my friend best-selling paranormal writer Marjorie M. Liu has "favorite" Starbucks to write in... located in Beijing and Shanghai. (envy)

Now, those are coffee shops worth visiting. I don't know if I'd be writing there, but I'd love to see the cities around them :-)
