Yarn Bombing

Yesterday I learned from the wise and google-cunning Mrs. D. that there exists in this marvellous world a thing called 'Yarn Bombing'. (This is not to be confused with yarn bumming, which was my first google search term... just saying.)

I'm not a big fan of grafitti (especially tags - the big art pieces are quite another matter) but this seems absolutely harmless and some of these projects boggled my mind.

Wow, I never heard of such a thing but I love it! So cheery and fun, and I can't imagine the work, but worth it, I really liked the hat on the statue but all of this was so cool :D

I really fell for the subway knitwork. Public transportation could really do with some cosiness :-)

What fun! The ones you link to in the second link are wonderful.

(In Japan they give statues of Jizô (here in this icon) hats and bibs as a form of devotion.)

That is a very sweet picture. And it really tickles my mind how two seemingly identical actions (putting knitwear on sculptures) can spring from such different underlying mindsets.
